SMS Privacy Policy 

At Canadian Trade-Ex, we are committed to protecting the security of your account. We offer a Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) option via SMS (Short Message Service) to provide an extra layer of security when you log in. This section explains how we collect, use, and protect your phone number for this purpose.  

1. Information Collection:

• Phone Number: When you choose to enable SMS-based 2FA for your Canadian Trade-Ex “CME Attendee Organizer”, we will collect and store your mobile phone number. This is the number to which we will send verification codes.

2. Consent:

• By enabling SMS-based 2FA and providing your phone number, you explicitly consent to Canadian Trade-Ex sending you SMS messages containing verification codes for login purposes.
• You can disable SMS-based 2FA by replying to a SMS message with the word Stop. Sending us a reply with the word Stop will mean you will no longer receive SMS verification codes.

3. Data Usage:

• Verification Codes: We will use your phone number solely for the purpose of sending you one-time verification codes to authenticate your login attempts.
• Account Security: Your phone number, in the context of SMS 2FA, helps us verify your identity and protect your account from unauthorized access.
• No Marketing: We will not use your phone number collected for SMS-based 2FA for any marketing or promotional communications unless you have separately provided your consent for such purposes.

4. Data Sharing:

• Service Providers: To deliver SMS verification codes, we may share your phone number with third-party SMS service providers. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose.  
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your phone number if required to do so by law, legal process, or a governmental request.  

5. Data Security and Storage:

• Canadian Trade-Ex takes reasonable measures to protect the confidentiality and security of your phone number used for SMS 2FA. We employ industry-standard security practices to prevent unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
• Your phone number associated with SMS 2FA will be retained for as long as you have this security feature enabled.. If you disable SMS 2FA, we will securely dispose of your phone number related to this specific feature within a reasonable timeframe.

6. Your Rights:

• You have the right to review and update the phone number associated with your SMS 2FA. You have the right to disable SMS 2FA at any time, as mentioned in Section 2.
